Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka.

My adaptation of Metamorphosis is set in the early 1900s, where Gregor suffers from Schizophrenia. Due to these delusions he believed he had transformed into an insect, becoming a 'burden' to his family.

In the early 1900s our understandings of mental illness was rudimentary and professional treatments were extremely harsh and ineffectual. I will be setting my 'film adaptation' of Metamorphosis within a mental asylum.

This project is allowing me to further explore the world of creature costume design. My aim will be to create a character by combining the fabrication of a tiger beetle with the uniform typical for a mental patient for the time period.
